Justice ministers on artificial intelligence and child-friendly justice

Ministers will exchange views with the Director of the EU Agency for Fundamental Rights on the judicial aspects of the draft artificial intelligence act. Minister Dikaučič announced: 'We will focus on the impact of the draft act on the future development and use of artificial intelligence systems in the judiciary from the point of view of fundamental rights, with an emphasis on the right to privacy and data protection.'

The ministers will also address aspects of child-friendly justice as one of the thematic areas of the new EU Strategy on the Rights of the Child. The emphasis will be on the multidisciplinary and interinstitutional approach developed within the concept of the Children's House (Barnahus), which focuses on the need to provide comprehensive and ongoing support to children during and after the completion of court proceedings.

During the working lunch, the ministers will open a debate on digital heritage and try to identify the measures that could be taken at European level.

Participation of high-level guests

In addition to the ministers of the EU member states and other heads of delegations, the meeting in Brdo pri Kranju will be attended by European Commissioner for Justice Didier Reynders, Director of the EU Agency for Fundamental Rights Michael O'Flaherty and President of Eurojust Ladislav Hamran.
