TFD Responds to Structure Fire on Putnam Drive

April 16, 2024

On April 16, at 11:51 a.m., the Tallahassee Fire Department (TFD) was dispatched to a structure fire located in the 600 block of Putnam Drive. As TFD units pulled out of the station, they could see a plume of smoke in the distance. Upon arrival, TFD crews found heavy fire coming from a single-story residential structure. TFD personnel quickly initiated a fire attack while searching for any possible occupants. Firefighters had to exercise extreme caution as parts of the floor had collapsed due to fire conditions. There were no occupants found inside the home at the time of the fire. The fire is currently being investigated by the State Fire Marshal's office.

The Tallahassee Fire Department was assisted on scene by the Tallahassee Police Department, Leon County EMS and City of Tallahassee Utilities.

Remember to check your smoke alarms to make sure they are in proper working condition, as smoke alarms can provide the early warning necessary to escape a deadly fire. A properly installed and maintained smoke alarm can alert you and your family to a fire 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Get more fire prevention information from TFD at Talgov.com/Fire.
