City congratulates Officer Emil Jensen on his retirement

Officer Emil Jensen retired from the Batavia Police Department Aug. 2 after 24-plus years of service to the Police Department and the citizens of Batavia. He came to the Department after having served in the U.S. Navy as a medic.

During his tenure with the Police Department, Jensen served in a variety of capacities within the Patrol Division, including: Evidence Technician, EVOC Instructor, Field Training Officer and as an Officer-in-Charge.

Jensen's service career was also distinguished through recognition as a Master Patrol Officer. He has also been the recipient of numerous letters of appreciation and recognition throughout his career. In 2008, he was the recipient of the Department's Medal of Valor and Kane County Officer of the Year Award nominee for his involvement in disarming a man who was threatening to stab his elderly parents.
