Kaleida Health Foundation Aids in Purchasing of New Hybrid 4D Interventional Imaging Technology at BGMC/GVI

Updated: 9/1/2021

Earlier this month, Buffalo General Medical Center/Gates Vascular Institute (BGMC/GVI) unveiled the new Alphenix 4D CT from Canon Medical Systems - a hybrid 4-dimensional angiography and computer tomography (CT) suite that offers faster, safe and more accurate stroke interventions on one revolutionary system.

This piece of technology was purchased through the Kaleida Health Foundation, including a $2.5 million gift from the John R. Oishei Foundation. Robert Gioia and Esther Annan from the John R. Oishei Foundation visited the suite to learn more about how their donation made a difference.

It is philanthropy and donations that allow the Kaleida Health Foundation to invest in technology to benefit our patients. Because of the Alphenix 4D CT, BGMC/GVI is the first and only hospital in the U.S. to embed this technology in the emergency department to accurately detect and treat blood clots in the brains of stroke patients.

Thank you to the John R. Oishei Foundation for your generous gift and for helping save lives across Western New York.
