Rep. Matt Reeves Applauds Gov. Kemp’s Signing of Swatting and Drive-by Shooting Bill

ATLANTA - State Representative Matt Reeves (R-Duluth), the House sponsor of State Senator Clint Dixon's Senate Bill 421, which cracks down on swatting and drive-by shootings in Georgia, praised Governor Brian Kemp's signing of the legislation today at the Georgia Public Safety Training Center in Forsyth, Georgia.

"Georgia getting tougher on swatting and drive-by shootings will keep people safer in their homes and businesses, will save lives and will also keep our brave members of law enforcement safer on the job," said Rep. Reeves.

Swatting is a false call to 911 in an attempt to trigger an armed swat team to a home, business or house of worship in an attempt to lead to an armed standoff or intimidation of those involved. Drive-by shootings are gunshots from cars at houses, buildings or other cars often by gang members or drug dealers.

Senate Bill 421 is the latest in a series of public safety legislation supported by Rep. Reeves from his work on the House Judiciary Non-Civil Committee this term, including the Safer Hospitals Act, Squatter Reform Act, criminalizing fentanyl pill presses and restricting the gas station drug Kratom. Reeves represents Suwanee, Duluth and Sugar Hill in Gwinnett County.

Representative Matt Reeves represents the citizens of District 99, which includes portions of Gwinnett County.
