Women's Tennis Sweeps Bucknell, 7-0

The Drexel women's tennis team swept an afternoon match against Bucknell on Friday at the Hecht Hamlin Center, moving to 4-1 with four consecutive victories after the 7-0 victory over the Bison. The Dragons handed Bucknell its first loss of the season.

The Dragons won two of three doubles matches to take the doubles point. Salma Ziouti and Clary Rodriguez Cruz took a 6-4 decision at No. 2, and Ryshena Providence and Marta Martinez rounded out the doubles triumph with a 6-3 victory at No. 3.

In singles, the Dragons left little doubt as they won all six matches in straight sets. Ghita Benhadi set the pace at No. 1, going 6-2, 6-3. Ziouti cruised at No. 2, 6-1, 6-4 and Kendra Bunch handled business at No. 3, 6-2, 6-0. Rodriguez Cruz was victorious at No. 4, 6-4, 6-4, and Providence took the No. 5 match, 6-4, 6-3. Mya Fuentes rounded out the perfect singles day for the Dragons with a 6-1, 6-4 victory at No. 6.

The Dragons will now take on NJIT on the road on Saturday as part of a doubleheader with the men. The men's match takes place at 11 a.m., with the women following at 2 p.m.
