Sep 17 2020 SAG-AFTRA Podcast: ‘Women’s Voices and Votes’ Read More

The ratification of the 19th Amendment, which granted women the right to vote, has been an important milestone in the long road toward equality. It has helped women shape the course of history for over a century, and stands to do so again as we reach ever closer to the 2020 National Election in November.

This episode of the podcast is a rebroadcast of the SAG-AFTRA President's Task Force on Education, Outreach & Engagement Aug. 25 livestream Women's Equality Day: A Celebration of Women's Voices and Women's Votes. Together, panelists AFL-CIOSecretary-Treasurer Liz Shuler, Rock the VoteOrganizing Director Jasmine Jones, and SAG-AFTRA members Tichina Arnold (The Neighborhood), Brenda Song (Dollface) and Bella Thorne (Midnight Sun), and moderator and broadcast journalist LaMonica Peters discussed the importance of the 19th Amendment and its 100-year legacy, the importance of voting and ways women in the public eye can use their platforms to educate, inform and encourage others to vote. Introduction provided by hosts SAG-AFTRA President Gabrielle Carteris and National Executive Vice President David White.
