Parkland to begin offering 2nd booster shots of the COVID-19 vaccine

Posted: 4/25/2022

Vaccinations available at Parkland's COPC's

Beginning tomorrow, Tuesday, April 26, Parkland Health will offer the second booster shot of the COVID-19 vaccine at Parkland's Community Oriented Primary Care (COPC) health centers located throughout Dallas County. Individuals are reminded to bring their vaccine card to their vaccination appointment.

  • Individuals who have a MyChart account can schedule a vaccine appointment at one of the COPC vaccine sites.
  • Individuals who do not have a MyChart account can either sign up for one online or call 214-590-7000 from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday - Saturday to schedule an appointment.

COVID vaccinations are not available in the Parkland ER.

Public health experts have recommended a second booster shot to individuals who have a weakened immune system or who are 50 years and older and received their last COVID vaccine at least 4 months ago. The vaccine is available at no cost to the patient.

According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), you may choose which COVID-19 vaccine you receive as a booster shot. Some individuals may prefer the vaccine type that they originally received, while others may prefer a different booster. CDC's recommendations now allow for this type of mix and match dosing for booster shots.
