Two CCSD Schools Earn Gold Awards from Safety Organization

Two CCSD schools have earned top honors from a statewide organization dedicated to safety!

Bascomb Elementary School and Clayton Elementary School both earned the Gold Partner Award from Safe Routes to School in recognition of their efforts to encourage students to walk and bike more and stay safe at the same time.

The statewide nonprofit organization leads projects and activities to improve community safety, reduce traffic and air pollution around schools and encourage children to pursue healthy and active lifestyles. It designs programs to improve the health and well-being of children by enabling and encouraging them to walk or bicycle to school. This is the second consecutive Gold Award for Bascomb and the sixth for Clayton.

"Thank you to the teachers at Bascomb and Clayton for the work you have done to earn this recognition," Superintendent of Schools Dr. Brian V. Hightower said. "We want every student to be healthy, active and safe, and this award celebrates your dedication to that important mission."
