Plans to Resurface Parts of Routes 160 & 97 in Three Counties Focus of Virtual Public Meeting

Southwest District - The public is invited to a virtual (online) public meeting starting Sunday, May 19, to learn more about plans for resurfacing and improving sections of U.S. Route 160 and Missouri Route 97 in Barton, Dade and Lawrence counties, the Missouri Department of Transportation said.

The meeting will be available for two weeks from Sunday, May 19, through Sunday, June 2, and can be accessed at the project webpage here.

Beginning the spring of 2025, contractors will resurface three (3) locations along U.S. Route 160 and Missouri Route 97 in Barton, Dade and Lawrence counties. The project includes adding two-foot shoulders and rumble strips on both highways. In addition, the work includes extending a total of 12 culverts on Route 160 between Lockwood and Missouri Route 39, as well as making some repairs and resurfacing the U.S. Route 160/North Fork Spring River bridge north of Golden City. The bridge will remain a one-lane bridge, until 2027 when it is scheduled to be replaced with a new two-lane structure.

Those unable to access the online meeting are encouraged to contact MoDOT's Southwest District Office at 417.895.7600 and accommodations will be made to share the information and gather feedback.

The project's estimated total cost is $10.8 million.
