HARRISBURG - Seven Commonwealth Financing Authority (CFA) grants totaling more than $3.6 million have been awarded to the 36th District through the CFA's Multimodal Transportation Fund Program and Greenways, Trails and Recreation Program, according to Sen. Ryan Aument (R-36).

"This funding will be used to benefit our communities by creating and improving outdoor recreational opportunities, for which we have seen an increased demand post-pandemic," Sen. Aument said. "It will also be used for safety improvements in numerous locations."

  • $1 million will be used to replace the Dairy Road bridge in East Hempfield Township to provide a safe and efficient crossing for all legal vehicle loads.
  • $990,741 will be used for road and pedestrian improvements at Market Square in Manheim Borough.
  • $606,378 will be used to install crosswalk signals, pavement markings and bus stops along several streets in the Mount Joy Borough.
  • $400,000 will be used to extend the regional Warwick and Ephrata Rail Trail (WERT) in Ephrata Borough.
  • $331,261 will be used to improve Furnace Road in the Borough of Marietta, stormwater and erosion control, and resurfacing a quarter mile of the trail on the green space by Front Street.
  • $218,000 will be used to install lit ADA pathways, LED light poles and new trails at Denver Park Annex - Cocalico Creek. The project will also include two rain gardens for stormwater management, educational signs throughout the park and four new benches.
  • $100,000 will be used to construct two tennis courts and a 7,000-foot walking trail on the Pleasant View retirement community campus in Penn Township.

All of the projects were funded by the CFA, which is an independent agency of the Department of Community and Economic Development that administers many of Pennsylvania's economic development and community improvement programs.
