Additional improvements in a variety of areas at the Arkansas State Veterans Cemetery at North Little Rock are set to begin after the Independence Day Holiday.

Beginning after the holiday, the circle areas by the flagpole will be closed. Visitors can still visit the columbarium.

Generally, this work is to improve the failing concrete and safety railing at the lake.

The front gate is open, and services are continuing. Services are being routed to the cemetery assembly area, just down from the administration building and an alternate committal shelter is being used. This committal shelter is located just before section R. See map.

The committal shelter improvements include a fan for better air circulation, paint, sidewalk on the Eastside for easier access to the committal shelter, and an Honors Pad for the Honors teams.

The Arkansas State Veterans Cemetery at North Little Rock improvements recently began in many locations including sections G, J, M, the maintenance area, and the committal shelter.

This work includes upgrading the drainage, turf, and irrigation. This project also includes headstone raise, realign and cleaning in those sections.

Section G headstones have temporarily been moved to allow for the earthwork necessary for the project. All locations have been GPS located and mapped.

The concrete in the flag, and circle areas as well as the committal shelter are also being improved.

Anyone needing assistance should please contact the cemetery team at 501-683-2259.
