Bucharest Stock Exchange (BVB), a fundamental institution of the capital market, celebrates 25 years since its re-opening. The institution of the stock exchange was re-established in 1995, and on November 20th the first transactions were performed. In the first trading session, 45 transactions were made, with a total volume of 905 shares from 6 listed companies. A quarter of a century later, the Romanian stock market is fundamentally transformed. Currently, BVB has 352 companies listed on the Main Market and on the Multilateral Trading System (SMT) and trades, on average, over 42 million shares per day.
To mark the 25th anniversary of the modern stock exchange, BVB will hold a series of events throughout next week, November 16- 20th, from Monday to Friday, from 10 o'clock. Thus, between November 16th and 19th, daily webinars will take place, and a press conference is scheduled for November 20th. The main stakeholders in the capital market will participate in these events as guest speakers: investors, issuers, brokerage companies, authorities, together with BVB representatives. It will be discussed how the local capital market has evolved, where it can get in the next 25 years, and what steps need to be taken in this regard. The events will be broadcast live on BVB's YouTube and Facebook channels.
