Russian peacekeepers cleared 1 ha of the territory of Nagorno-Karabakh from unexploded mines and shells in a week

Within a week, engineering and sapper groups of the Russian peacekeeping contingent cleared 1 ha of the territory of Nagorno-Karabakh from unexploded mines and shells using modern equipment and mine-search dogs.

Every day, near the demarcation line in the Askeran, Mardaker and Martuni districts, Russian peacekeepers carry out work to search for unexploded ordnance, shells, shots and mines. Military personnel perform tasks to clean settlements and nearby territories intended for agricultural land and livestock grazing.

Local residents are turning to Russian servicemen for help in order to protect themselves and not disrupt planned activities for agricultural work in different regions of Nagorno-Karabakh.

The main task of the Russian engineering and sapper groups of the peacekeeping contingent in Nagorno-Karabakh is the demining of the terrain, roads and infrastructure facilities, as well as conducting engineering reconnaissance.

In total, since November 2020, 2,329 hectares of territory, 689.5 km of roads have been cleared of unexploded ordnance in Nagorno-Karabakh by the military personnel of the humanitarian demining unit of the Russian peacekeeping contingent, 1,937 buildings have been checked, including 34 socially significant objects, 26,092 explosive objects have been found and neutralized.

In accordance with the agreements specified in the joint statement of the President of the Russian Federation, the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan and the Prime Minister of the Republic of Armenia, a complete cease-fire and all military operations in Nagorno-Karabakh were declared from 00: 00 Moscow time on November 10, 2020.

A peacekeeping contingent of the Russian Federation has been deployed to monitor the ceasefire and military operations in Nagorno-Karabakh.
