Statement on Senate EPA regulatory funding vote

WASHINGTON, D.C. - AFPM President and CEO Chet Thompson today issued the following statement after the United States Senate voted down a measure to defund EPA's new regulation that will ban most new gas cars in less than a decade:

"We're disappointed that nearly all Senate Democrats today voted to allow EPA to ban most new gas cars in less than a decade . Nationwide, 75 percent of Americans are against policies that aim to ban new gas, diesel and traditional hybrid cars. These Senators aren't listening to their constituents, and they're going to need to explain why.

"EPA's ban on most new gas cars will raise prices for consumers, hurt the U.S. economy and harm our national security-all at a time when consumers are signaling the government to slow down . There is no excuse for today's 'no' votes and we can only hope more Senators choose to take a stand for consumer freedoms when this regulation is brought up for a Congressional Review Act vote."
