TFD Responds to Two Structure Fires

The Tallahassee Fire Department (TFD) recently responded to two residential structure fires. On Monday, July 19, around 6 p.m., crews were dispatched to an apartment building on the 400 block of West College Avenue. Upon arrival, crews found the fire was extinguished by the building's sprinkler system. Crews worked to remove the smoke and water from the apartment. The fire started in the kitchen from cooking. All occupants escaped without injury.

On Tuesday morning, July 20, around 12:20 a.m., TFD was dispatched to a duplex on the 2300 block of High Road. Upon TFD arrival, all occupants were out of the residence and unharmed. First arriving crews reported fire through the roof of one side of the duplex and beginning to breach the second residence. Crews quickly made an interior attack on the fire and stopped it from spreading any further. The residence of origin was unoccupied and under construction. The cause of the fire is under investigation at this time.

TFD was assisted at each scene by the Tallahassee Police Department and Leon County EMS.
