Michigan Supreme Court to Hold Public Administrative Hearing September 20

WHO: Justices of the Michigan Supreme Court

WHAT: Public hearing on proposed amendments to administrative rules WHEN: Wednesday, September 20, 2017

Hearing will begin promptly at 9:30 a.m. and adjourn no later than 11:30 a.m.

WHERE: Michigan Hall of Justice

WHY: Pursuant to Administrative Order No. 1997-11, the Court is required to open administrative matters for public comment. The agenda for this hearing includes, but is not limited to, amendments that would:

  • require the prosecution to provide reasonable notice of other acts evidence in writing 14 days before trial;

  • strike the language "and dates of birth" to protect personal information from being accessible in court records; and,

  • establish explicit rules for limited scope representation (LSR).
