Today Moscow hosted another Defence Ministry Board Session chaired by the General of the Army Sergei Shoigu at the National Centre for State Defence Control.

Starting work, the Minister of Defence proposed to discuss the issue of preparation for the Main Naval Parade.

'The jubilee parade will be held in the year of the 325th anniversary of the Russian Fleet. The event will be attended by modern warships, boats, submarines and aircraft of all fleets and flotillas. For the first time, ships of the Frontier Directorate of the FSS of Russia are involved, - said the Head of the Military Department. 'A total of 39 ships and boats, 7 submarines, 48 aircraft and more than 4 thousand servicemen will be involved.'

'Also, naval parades will be held at the bases of the forces of fleets and flotillas - in Severomorsk, Baltiysk, Sevastopol, Kaspiysk and Vladivostok, as well as in the Mediterranean Sea - the port of Tartous,' added the Minister of Defence.

In total, up to 200 warships of various classes, about 80 aircraft, more than 100 units of military equipment, up to 15 thousand military and civilian personnel will participate in the parades.

The second issue of the agenda of the meeting was the progress in the implementation of the plan of activities of the Western Military District in the framework of the implementation of the May decrees of the President of the Russian Federation and his instructions given at the meeting in Sochi.

According to the Russian Defence Minister, the situation in the Western strategic direction is characterized by an increase in military threats.

Over the past 7 years, the intensity of flights of the US Air Force's strategic bomber aviation in Europe has grown 14 times.

NATO ships with guided missile weapons systematically enter the Baltic Sea. Only last year, ships of this class performed missions near the Kaliningrad region three times. In total, since 2016, the objective control system has recorded 18 such exits of warships to the alleged launch areas of cruise missiles.

'At the same time, the US and NATO continue to expand the scope of operational and combat training near our borders,' the head of the military department said.

According to the Minister of Defence of the Russian Federation, the number of exercises has increased by 1.5 times in recent years. Now the largest exercise in the past 30 years, Defender Europe - 2021, are being held, in which up to 40 thousand military personnel are participating. Their main goal is to practice the transfer of a full-fledged division from the United States to Europe.

'The actions of our Western counterparts are destroying the security system in the world and forcing us to take adequate countermeasures,' General of the Army Sergei Shoigu said. - We are constantly improving the combat composition of the troops. By the end of the year, about 20 formations and military units will be formed in the Western Military District'.

The Head of the Russian Military Department noted that organizational measures are synchronized with the supply of modern weapons and military equipment. This year, it is planned to supply about 2 thousand weapons to the troops of the district.

'In addition, the training of personnel and military command and control bodies is constantly being improved. The intensity of practiceng combat training tasks by the ships of the Baltic Fleet increased by 30%. More than 200 exercises have been completed using various types of weapons. The air raid of the districts's aviation increased by 4%,' the Minister of Defence said.

Preparations for Zapad-2021 joint strategic Russian-Belarusian exercise, which will take place in September at the training grounds of Belarus and the Western Military District, have entered an active phase. A number of command post exercises have already been carried out with the involvement of headquarters of various levels.

A set of tasks will begin in June within the framework of joint exercises of special forces.

'I want to emphasize that the Zapad-2021 exercise is planned. It is carried out by decision of the presidents of Russia and Belarus and is exclusively defensive in nature. Within the time frame established by international treaties, our partners will be informed about the parameters of the exercise, and the event itself will be able to be visited by international observers and journalists,' added Sergei Shoigu.
