One Year Ago Today, David Schweikert Voted To Cut Veterans’ Health Care, Gut Jobs, and Jeopardize Funding For Law Enforcement

One year ago today, David Schweikert passed the Default on America Act, far-right legislation that risked the safety and security of American families, nearly forcing the U.S. to default on its debts.

Had House Democrats not saved our country from a catastrophic default, the extreme MAGA Republican wish-list backed by David Schweikert would have:

  • Gutted funding for veterans' health care for the more than 40,000 veterans in his district;

  • Jeopardized over 58,000 Arizona jobs;

  • Increased taxes on everyday families and raised energy prices,

  • Risked thousands of children losing their teachers and a quality education;

  • Threatened health care coverage for roughly 182,000 seniors, children, and disabled Americans who rely on Medicaid;

  • Threatened working families who depend on food assistance programs and Medicaid;

  • Jeopardized law enforcement funding, and more.

The 118th Congress has been mired in chaos, crisis, and confusion. Thanks to Schweikert, history will remember this Congress being the least productive in modern American history.

DCCC Spokesperson Lauryn Fanguen:
"David Schweikert will continue to face the consequences for joining extremists like Marjorie Taylor Greene to support a plan that would have cut veterans' health benefits, raise costs, and threaten the safety of Arizona families. In the past year, Schweikert has refused to break from the extremism that has all but halted the business of our government to meet the needs of working and middle class families."
