Rep. Jordan Ridley Urges Secretary of Homeland Security to Provide Greater Transparency in Reporting on Immigration in Georgia

ATLANTA - State Representative Jordan Ridley (R-Woodstock) recently sent a letter to Secretary of the Department of Homeland Security Alejandro Mayorkas urging him to provide greater transparency in the department's reporting regarding the screening, vetting and resettlement of noncitizens in Georgia.

"My constituents are deeply concerned with national security and the integrity of our immigration systems," said Rep. Ridley. "It is of vital importance that we receive more detailed information from the department on illegal immigrants who are entering our state, and we deserve to have greater transparency in this process. It is imperative that our citizens have full confidence in the processes that safeguard our state and nation."

In his letter, Rep. Ridley references a recent report from the Department of Homeland Security regarding the screening, vetting and resettlement of noncitizens in Georgia. Specifically, Rep. Ridley urges Secretary Mayorkas to release detailed information on its reporting and disclosure of the specific methodologies employed by the Department of Homeland Security when screening and vetting these individuals. Further, the letter requests that the department provide a breakdown of age, gender and country of origin for the individuals included in this resettlement initiative in Georgia.

Representative Jordan Ridley represents the citizens of District 22, which includes portions of Cherokee and Cobb counties. He was elected to the House of Representatives in 2022 and currently serves as the Secretary of the Energy, Utilities & Telecommunications Committee.
