The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation was one of the award-winners at the first edition of the Energy Earth Awards on 23 July at Maratea.

The Secretary General of the Farnesina, Ambassador Ettore Francesco Sequi, accepted the award made to the Ministry "for its decisive contribution to protecting the Italian economy in the recent global energy crisis by fostering important agreements with energy exporting countries in the complex international framework that has been created by recent global events".

"It is a great honour to be representing the Farnesina", stated Ambassador Sequi. "The award I have accepted is a well-deserved recognition of the patient and constant work of all of the Ministry's staff".

"The fact that the prize was awarded to our Ministry is an important testimony to the deeply-rooted awareness in our society of the nexus between energy and foreign policy", added the Secretary General. "The numerous energy diplomacy missions that the Government has undertaken in recent months, at the decisive impetus of Minister Luigi Di Maio, in response to the repercussions on our energy security from the Russian aggression in Ukraine are a key element of the efforts made in response to an unprecedented situation for our nation".
