Construction Activities Continue on Ridge Pike in Plymouth Township

05/02/2024

King of Prussia, PA - The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation announced today that construction activities continue next week on Ridge Pike in Plymouth Township, under a local Montgomery County project to improve congestion, safety, bridge infrastructure, pedestrian facilities, and stormwater management along the highly traveled corridor.

Motorists are advised of the following travel restriction:

Drivers are advised to allow extra time when traveling through the work area because backups and delays will occur. All scheduled activities are weather dependent.

Under this project, the contractor will widen a county-owned section of Ridge Pike, install left turn lanes to the existing four-lane cross-section, improve pedestrian mobility, and modernize traffic signals. In addition, the Ridge Pike bridge over Norfolk Southern Railroad will be rehabilitated.

For more information, please visit the Montgomery County Ridge Pike Project website.

The contractor will also rehabilitate two state-owned bridges which include:
  • Ridge Pike over Plymouth Creek: Work on the 46-year-old, 93-foot-wide structure includes concrete overlay on the bridge deck; steel, concrete substructure, and guiderail repairs; replacement of bridge approach slabs, concrete divisor, and joint seals; and construction of stone slope walls at both bridge abutments.
  • Ridge Pike over Interstate 476 (Mid-County Expressway): Work on the 45-year-old, 93-foot-wide structure includes repair of steel rocker bearings, concrete barriers, and concrete substructure; installation of concrete overlay on the bridge deck; replacement of bridge approach slabs, concrete divisor, and joint seals; and drainage system cleaning.

J. D. Eckman, Inc. of Atglen Borough, Chester County is the contractor for this $39.2 million project to improve travel and safety along Ridge Pike between Belvoir Road and Chemical Road. Construction is financed with county, state, and federal funds.
