Disney's forky plush recall
UNITED STATES - As reported in an online news article published by finance.yahoo.com, Disney recalled its Forky 11-inch plush toys, indicating the toys may pose a choking hazard to young children.
According to the United States Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), Disney has issued a voluntary recall of approximately 80,000 Forky 11-inch plush toys in the United States. Disney recalled the products under the CPSC's 'Fast Track' recall process. Such recalls are voluntarily issued by companies who commit to work with the CPSC to quickly notify consumers of a recall and remedy the situation to protect consumers.
The Forky toys are described as having 'poseable arms, a base, rainbow screen art on top of foot and plastic rolling 'googly' eyes.' The eyes consist of three parts which include (1) a white plastic base, (2) a clear plastic dome, and (3) a small black plastic disc within the dome, representing the pupil. The Forky character is from the movie 'Toy Story 4.'
The Forky toys are being recalled because the 'googly' plastic eyes are at risk of becoming detached, which pose a choking hazard to young children who may put the eyes in their mouths. The Forkey toys subject to recall were sold at Disney Stores worldwide, Disney Theme Parks, online at www.shopdisney.com, and through the Disney store on Amazon Marketplace.
The Forky toys subject to recall were sold between April 2019 and June 2019, for $20.00 each. The tracking code information for the recalled toys can be found on the sewn-in label attached to the base of the toy. The specific tracking codes for the recalled toys include the following:
The CPSC is instructing consumers who purchased the recalled Forky toys to return the toys to any Disney retailer immediately, and they will receive a full refund of their purchase.
