NTCA and ACA Support Voluntary Approach to EAS alerts for Missing and Endangered Persons

(May 21) In joint comments filed with the FCC, NTCA and ACA Connects supported the FCC's proposal to allow Emergency Alert System (EAS) participants to issue alerts for missing and endangered persons on a voluntary basis. The associations agreed that it would be contrary to the voluntary nature of state and local EAS to mandate upgrades to existing EAS equipment to incorporate new optional event codes.
