EAST STROUDSBURG, Pa.
- The Kutztown University women's rugby team had another successful weekend, going unbeaten in pool play and advancing to the championship game, before falling to Bloomsburg on Saturday at the second Marc's 7s tournament in East Stroudsburg. The Golden Bears earned second place in the tournament and third place overall in the Marc 7s series. Kutztown defeated Lasalle 49-0 in the opener of pool play. Tries were recorded by , Brooke Hughes, , , , and a hat trick by . Cowan tallied one conversion. KU then beat host East Stroudsburg 34-14. Cowan led the way with two tries, followed by one each from Davila, Quigg, Hughes and . Conversions were by Cowan and Wasdyke. In the final game of group play, Kutztown drew with Rowan. Dudkewic recorded two tries. In the semifinal, Kutztown took down Temple 12-10 with a converted try in dead ball time. Both tries were scored by Cowan with the game-winning conversion by Wasdyke. KU had more of a rough time in the final, falling to the Huskies 29-0. Yellow cards doomed the Maroon and Gold throughout. Kutztown will next compete in the Rickerson Cup in Princeton, N.J. on Saturday, April 27.
