Building Inspections Department recognized by ICC

The City of McKinney Building Inspections Department is now accredited by the International Code Council (ICC) as a Preferred Provider of continuing education. The department already has a well-developed internal training program, providing code-based training sessions each week for inspectors and plans examiners. Now the outstanding work the department has been doing will be recognized by ICC for its merits.

Staff is required to earn and maintain ICC certifications in order to expertly serve the development community and to maintain the City's ISO and IAS statuses. These certifications demonstrate a high level of professional achievement. ICC-accredited continuing education units from Preferred Providers are required to maintain certifications. What this means going forward is that staff can attain the needed CEUs internally, without having to go to classes from outside providers, thus increasing the overall amount of accredited education and saving the department money on outside training. The department must follow an ICC protocol for submitting course records, but the payoff is significant in the end. McKinney's Building Inspections Department shares ICC's educational priorities in the pursuit of excellence in the construction field.

It is an honor to be recognized by ICC as a provider of quality education.
