Corpus Christi Watergarden Officially Reopens

CORPUS CHRISTI, TX - The City of Corpus Christi announces the reopening of the iconic Watergarden after a seven-year hiatus due to damage caused by Hurricane Harvey. The newly renovated landmark is operational and open to the public, with state-of-the-art upgrades that enhance its functionality and aesthetic appeal.

Located in the heart of the SEA District, the Watergarden is surrounded by prominent cultural and educational institutions, including the American Bank Center, the Art Museum of South Texas, the Corpus Christi Museum of Science and History, and the Texas State Museum of Asian Cultures & Education Center. Its proximity to the bay is a pivotal element in the district's vibrant community life.

Following extensive damage in 2017, the Watergarden underwent significant improvements, including enhancing flood defenses, updating mechanical systems, advanced drainage solutions, benches for seating, and landscaping. The garden now features programmable LED lighting systems with multiple color sequences suitable for various events and holidays.

Those attending the Buc Days Festival from May 2 to May 12 will have access to the Watergarden area with their paid admission. Access to the Watergarden is available free of charge until 4:00 p.m. during the Buc Days Festival.

After Buc Days, the Watergarden will operate daily from 6:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m., offering a serene setting for relaxation, community gatherings, and more. Its reopening marks a significant step in the ongoing development of the SEA District as a cultural and recreational hub in Corpus Christi.
