Goodyear Celebrates Juneteenth with First Ever Family Day

Free celebration on June 19 at the Goodyear Recreation Campus

The city of Goodyear was one of the first Valley cities to establish Juneteenth as an official city holiday, and now the city will host its first Juneteenth community event. The free Juneteenth Family Day event on Sunday, June 19 will include live Motown music, African drum performances, poetry, storytelling, art demonstrations and food trucks.

Juneteenth celebrates the end of slavery in the United States, and June 19, 1865, marks the day when more than 250,000 enslaved people in Texas were officially freed.
