8 of Seattle’s Finest Dining Experiences

Seattle's diverse dining scene is dominated by casual-leaning restaurants serving relatively affordable fare. But the Emerald City is also home to a number of upscale dining destinations. Here's a look at some of the best-rated high-end dining experiences you can find in Seattle.

Formerly known as Naka, Adana serves Japanese comfort food in a fine dining setting. Treat yourself to the Capitol Hill restaurant for a taste of Chef Shota Nakajima's inventive tempura, udon, yakisoba, and more. Adana is a five-minute drive from the new luxury Seattle apartments at AMLI Arc.

Enjoy wagyu beef with local chanterelles, handmade pasta, and fine wine at Chef Nathan Lockwood's Altura. The upscale Italian kitchen ranks high on most lists of Seattle's best restaurants. Altura is a five-minute drive from AMLI 535.

Art of the Table is one of the more upscale places in Seattle to enjoy Pacific Northwest cuisine. Unless you have your heart set on something off the a la carte menu, go for the tasting menu at the chef's table, long the restaurant's only dining option. Art of the Table is a three-minute drive or 15-minute walk from AMLI Wallingford.

Renee Erickson's contemporary, French-inspired steakhouse serves some of the finer cuts of beef in Seattle. Bateau's grass-fed cuts come from Erickson's Vashon Island farm. Tucked away in Capitol Hill, this venture from the restaurateur responsible for The Walrus and the Carpenter offers one of Seattle's finest dining experiences. Bar Melusine, Erickson's next-door champagne-and-oyster lounge, provides a great setting for hors d'oeuvres.

For exquisite Pacific Northwest cuisine in an authentic Mid-century

Downtown Seattle steakhouse El Gaucho has been one of the Emerald City's most popular upscale restaurants since culinary legend Paul Mackay opened it more than 20 years ago. El Gaucho's 28-day, dry-aged steak is worthy of its black-tie setting.

The Fairmont Olympic 's French-inspired restaurant has held AAA 4-Diamond status for longer than a quarter of a century. The downtown Seattle restaurant is open for breakfast, lunch, afternoon tea, and weekend brunch.

This ritzy Seattle restaurant's classic Korean dishes are prepared with fresh local ingredients, including some of the area's best seafood and beef. Girin is located within walking distance of Seattle's CenturyLink Field.
