On Wednesday, August the 7th 2019, the HELLENIC PETROLEUM Group headquarters hosted an event to award 10 scholarships to top university graduates who -with the support of the Group- will pursue postgraduate studies at world-class universities abroad, such as Imperial College, London School of Economics, Harvard Business School, University College London, University of Cambridge, University of Lausanne, Delft University of Technology, and others.
The HELLENIC PETROLEUM Group invests consistently in education, research and innovation, providing scholarships -for the seventh consecutive year- for postgraduate studies at internationally renowned universities abroad. The Scholarship Program aims to support excellent students who wish to enrich their knowledge and gain new experiences in the respective fields of their scientific and professional interests, through specialisations in aspects of Engineering, Energy, Management and Economics, as well as in sectors that require state-of-the-art technologies.
At the event, Hellenic Petroleum CEO, Mr. A. Shiamishis, congratulated the fellows and wished them success in their studies, while also expressing his hope that their master degrees will serve as springboards for new distinctions in their respective domain.
Since 2013, the Group has awarded 62 postgraduate scholarships to excellent graduate students, with a maximum duration of two years, in English-speaking programs offered by world-class universities in Europe and the United States. The main objective of the scholarship program is to facilitate access to master's degrees for Greek university graduates who hold a bachelor from a Greek or a foreign university and have solid academic performance. Each scholarship covers tuition fees and living costs, in order to enable fellows to enrich their knowledge and acquire the necessary skills in order to live up to a constantly changing and demanding international labour market.
The Scholarship Program places particular emphasis on study programs that cover the following scientific fields: a) Energy Engineering, Hydrocarbon Exploration & Exploitation, Renewable Energy Sources, Alternative Technologies & Fuels, and Sustainable Transport; b) Energy Economics, Energy Geopolitics, Energy Project Management, Supply Chain and Energy Law; and c) Informatics, Networks & Communications, Environment, Ecosystems, Sustainable Development & Climate Change, Advanced Energy Materials for Energy Generation and Storage, Digital Transformation, Artificial Intelligence, Robotics and Intelligent Cities.
The HELLENIC PETROLEUM Group has been constantly supporting the new generation through a series of Corporate Social Responsibility actions. This program is part of the Group's strategic partnerships, aimed at supporting young people and creating opportunities, as well as strengthening the two-way relationship established between the education and the business communities.
