The Recreational Craft Directive (RCD) requires each watercraft to be marked with an identification number (MIC) which includes the unique code of the manufacturer assigned by the national authority of the Member State.
In the event the UK leaves the EU without a deal on 31 October 2019, manufacturers established in a third country, which has its unique code of the manufacturer assigned by UK authorities and intends to place their products within the EU 27 after the withdrawal of the UK, will have to apply for the assignment of a new unique code of the manufacturer from one of the national authorities of the EU 27 Member State in which they intend to place the water craft on the market.
Information is available on the British Marine website from Member States on the processes involved to obtain the unique code of the manufacturer from the EU 27.
