The Airborne troops showed combat capabilities and presented new weapons in Alabino near Moscow

A large military sports festival was held on Saturday at the Alabino training ground near Moscow in honor of the 91st anniversary of the formation of the Airborne troops, which will be celebrated on August 2.

After the opening of the holiday, which was attended by Russian Defence Minister Sergei Shoigu, paratroopers of a separate recce battalion of the Ivanovo guards airborne unit demonstrated hand-to-hand combat with the passage of an obstacle course.

Then a dynamic display of airborne troops equipment took place.

The Minister of Defence examined the new and promising models of weapons, military and special equipment presented at the exhibition. Including the landing armored vehicle Typhoon-airborne, which is planned to be delivered to the formations and military units of the airborne troops. At the sites in front of the Mound of Glory, modern models of weapons, military and special equipment, landing equipment, historical equipment were also demonstrated.

During the dynamic display, according to the Ministry of Defence, new and promising samples of airborne artillery equipment were presented for the first time: a set of automated control on the base chassis Typhoon-airborne , Zavet-D, a 120-mm self-propelled artillery gun 2S42 Lotos, a self-propelled artillery installation 2S41 Drok based on a wheeled armored vehicle Typhoon-airborne.

Also, for the first time, the general public was shown the delivery of 82-mm mortar weapons on the Junker-OT system in a universal parachute-cargo harness, as well as the delivery of a specialist who does not have parachute training on the Tandem-400 parachute system, and for the first time in world history, the largest airborne flag with an area of more than 1000 square meters was landed.

The flight of a group of five Eleron-3 and Orlan-10 unmanned aerial vehicles, as well as the Lastochka and Orlan-10 UAVs undergoing pilot operation, opened the dynamic display of equipment in a closed combat order. The audience was presented with a flight of Superkam helicopter - type aircraft with the flags of the Russian Federation, the Russian Defence Ministry and the Airborne troops.

Equipment of recce units and special forces units of the airborne troops passed by the stands: an AM-1 all-terrain vehicle, Rys, Tiger-M cars, an armored personnel carrier BTR-82A, an armored car Typhoon-airborne.

Then followed the equipment of the main airborne units - combat vehicles of the first, second, third and fourth generations, BTR-MDM Rakushka.

In the column of artillery units of the Airborne troops there were a point of recce and fire control Rheostat, a 120-mm self-propelled artillery installation 2S9-1M Nona-SM, ATGM Kornet, a 120-mm towed howitzer D-30, a 120-mm portable mortar 2S12A Sani, a 125-mm anti-tank gun 2S25 Sprut-SD.

The airborne air defence combat equipment was represented by the MRU-D intelligence and control module, the MP-D 9S931 landing planning module based on the BTR-MDM Rakushka, the Strela-10MN air defence system and the Werba MANPADS.

In addition, there was a display of special equipment of the engineering troops, the NBCP troops, signals, technical and logistics support.

One of the most spectacular episodes was the waltz on BMD-4M and AM-1 army all-terrain vehicles, as well as demonstration performances on horses of the pack transport platoon of the Margelov Ryazan Guards Higher Airborne Command School.

After that, a demonstration of the combat capabilities of the airborne units took place, within the framework of which a high-altitude landing took place from a height of 1500 meters, the actions of reconnaissance groups in a raid, forcing a water barrier on equipment, landing a tactical air assault and conducting an offensive battle by a parachute company were shown.

Further more, demonstration performances of parachutists with the performance of complex figures in the air, as well as the honor guard company of the Ryazan Airborne School were demonstrated. The audience saw the drawing of a tactical episode with the withdrawal of the advanced special forces unit of the airborne troops on the Arbalet-2 parachute systems, the strike by army aviation, the landing of the main forces of the tactical air assault from Mi-8 helicopters and the actions of the parachute company on the BMD-4M in defence.

The holiday ended with the performance of the Berkuts aerobatic team of the Torzhok Center for combat use and retraining of army aviation flight personnel.

All measures were carried out in accordance with the requirements for the prevention of a new coronavirus infection with strict compliance with the set of measures to counter the threat of COVID-19.

The celebration was attended by the commander of the Airborne troops Andrey Serdyukov, the heads of the subjects of the Russian Federation, where the formations, military units and institutions of the airborne troops are stationed, representatives of the DOSAAF, the Union of Paratroopers of Russia, other veteran and public organizations, military-patriotic clubs and the all-Russian children's and youth military-patriotic social movement Yunarmiya.

The solemn events began with a concert of creative collectives of formations and military units of the Airborne troops and the Song and Dance Ensemble of the Airborne troops.

The military sports festival was opened by the combined military brass band of the Airborne troops, the song and dance ensemble of the Airborne troops and the landing of 12 paratroopers, who symbolized the first parachute landing as part of the unit at the exercises near Voronezh on August 2, 1930, from where the airborne troops originate.
