IC Track & Field Wins Three Events at First Home Meet of 2020

JACKSONVILLE, Ill. - The Illinois College men's and women's track & field teams hosted the first of three home meets of the indoor season on Saturday with the Snow Bird Open. Though the meet was unscored and no team scoring was available, the Blueboys and Lady Blues did combine for three event victories, three second-place finishes and three more third-place finishes on the day.

On the track, event wins came from and Nick Mucciante. Running the 55 Meter Dash, Hyde posted a time of 7.36 in the prelims and then blazed to a 7.25 finish in the final. Likewise, Mucciante was involved in the 55 Hurdles rather than the 60 Hurdles this week, but advanced to the final with a time of 8.09 seconds in the prelims and then a 7.96 in the final. The field event winner on the day for Illinois College was freshman Gavin Raines, clearing a height of 6-2.75 in the high jump.

Field events and relays provided the majority of the rest of the day's highlights for Illinois College. Anthony Flores finished second in the men's weight throw (53-2.25), as did in the women's shot put (38-0.75). The other runner-up finish for IC came from the men's 4 x 200 Meter Relay team of Marshall Brown, Rylan Hynek, Lane Gaskin and Cody Klein, who finished with a time of 1:33.60.

In the third place on the day were Ju'Qui Womack in the men's triple jump (42-7.50) and in the women's weight throw (47-2.25). The women's 4 x 400 Meter Relay team of , , and also took third, clocking a time of 4:22.77.

Illinois College goes back on the road next weekend, traveling to Illinois Wesleyan University for the Titan Open on Feb. 1 beginning at 10 a.m.
