There’s no Labor Day without unions

Unions improve wages and benefits for all workers, not just union members. They help reduce income inequality by making sure all Americans, and not just the wealthy elite, share in the benefits of their labor. Union workers also enjoy better benefits than their nonunion peers.

As we approach Labor Day weekend, it's worth noting that union workers in the private sector are more likely to have paid time off-including paid holidays, paid vacation, and paid sick leave-than their nonunion peers.

EPI has always supported the right of workers to organize a union in their workplaces and bargain for fair wages and benefits. We strongly support the Protecting the Right to Organize (PRO) Act, and believe that strong unions play a key role in building a fair economy.
