Load Data from Oracle Enterprise Planning and Budgeting Cloud Service ...

With Inputs from

Nitin Deo, Senior Principal Product Manager

Overview

Oracle Fusion Analytics (Fusion Analytics), a part of the Oracle Fusion Data Intelligence Platform, is a family of prebuilt, cloud-native analytics applications for Oracle Fusion Cloud Applications that provide ready-to-use insights to help improve decision-making. It is extensible and customizable, allowing customers to ingest data and expand the base semantic model with additional content.

This post demonstrates augmenting Fusion Analytics data using an Enterprise Performance Management (EPM) functional module planning and Budgeting (PBCS) connector.

Steps

The following steps are required to augment Fusion Analytics using an EPM PBCS connector.

1. Create an EPBCS Data Exchange job.

2. Enable the EPM planning and Budgeting connector.

3. Create an EPM Data Connection.

4. Test Connection and refresh EPBCS metadata.

5. Load the data into Fusion Analytics using data augmentation.

1. Create an EPBCS Data Exchange job

Follow these steps:
Log in to EPBCS and navigate to Application > Data Exchange.

From the job type drop down, select Integration.

As part of Create Integration job, enter values in Mandatory Fields, select Source and
Target values from the drop down, as shown in below screen shot.

As part of Map Dimensions step, define source and target dimension mapping.

As part of Map Members step, define source and target dimension member mapping.

As part of Options step, define filter condition by each Dimension for extraction.

Run Data exchange job to export the target data set to EPBCS Inbox.

Confirm successful execution of Data exchange job in EPM.

2. Enable the EPM planning and Budgeting connector under Enable features in FAW Console.

3. Create an Oracle EPM - Planning and Budgeting Data Connection.

4. Test the EPM Connection and refresh EPBCS metadata

Test EPM Connection.

Refresh EPBCS metadata.

5. Load the data into Fusion Analytics using data augmentation

Navigate to Data Configuration. Select Oracle EPM - Planning and Budgeting from Data Source
dropdown. When augmenting data, a Source Table is displayed for each EPM extract file listed.

The following example lists one EPM extract file name.

When picking the Extract file and proceeding in the wizard, all the columns are visible, and up to
100 can be selected.

Specify the primary key information, as extract file does not provide it, column names and data types
are obtained.

Schedule and execute the data augmentation job to load data into Oracle Autonomous Data Warehouse.

Call to Action

Once the EPM connector feature is successfully configured, Fusion Analytics can be augmented using data from EPBCS source system. Once tested on the development Fusion Analytics instance, Oracle suggests performing the same steps to enable the feature on the production Fusion Analytics instance.

Refer to EPM documentation for more details on creating data integration jobs.
