Tony Browne & John Hogan
For the past three years John Hogan Certified Marina Professional (CMP) from Australia, has held the position of independent GMI Chairman. At the meeting held on 18 November the position of Chairman was formally transferred to Tony Browne, Certified Marina Manager (CMM) from Montenegro.
Under the leadership of John Hogan much has been achieved including re-establishing cooperation with Association of Marina Associations (AMI) in the USA, a review and upgrade of GMI course content and cementing the Certified Marina Professional (CMP) as a recognised and valued certification. John Hogan commented: 'GMI has an important role to build our industry professionalism and it has been very rewarding three years.'
Tony Browne has been the most recent Chairman of the British Marine CMM/CMP group and has 10 years senior marina industry experience. He is the Marina Director at the five Gold Anchor Platinum, Porto Montenegro Marina. Tony gave thanks to the work of John Hogan and said he looked forward to increasing the awareness and perceived value of GMI courses and the CMM and CMP certifications.
The next GMI course will be held this December in Dubai. The Advanced Marina Management course has 10 enrolments with participants coming from five different countries.
