Amador County Public Health reports 22 more cases of COVID-19 since last Tuesday's update, bringing the total laboratory confirmed case count to 1,730. The new cases include 12 males and 10 females, 6 children under the age of 18, 8 aged 18-49, 7 aged 50-64, 1 over 65 years of age; 1 residing in Ione, 5 in Jackson, 7 in Pine Grove, 4 in Pioneer, 1 residing Plymouth/surrounding areas, 3 living in Sutter Creek/Amador City, and 1 in Volcano.

This Friday's COVID-19 vaccination clinic could be changed to a Moderna vaccine clinic due to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) placing the Johnson & Johnson Janssen single-dose vaccine on pause this morning to examine reports of rare blood clots in 6 cases. More information on this announcement may be found on the CDC website: https://www.cdc.gov/media/releases/2021/s0413-JJ-vaccine.html. The California Department of Public Health will also convene an advisory committee on this matter. If the vaccine pause is reviewed and officially released for use, Friday's clinic will offer Johnson & Johnson Janssen vaccine. More information will be issued by Amador County Public Health late in the day on Thursday, April 15th, updating the public on which vaccine will be used during Friday's clinic.

Next week, the registration system that Amador County Public Health uses for COVID-19 vaccination clinics will change to the MyTurn platform: https://myturn.ca.gov/. As additional Amador Public Health Vaccine clinics are scheduled, it is announced via e-notification and updated on the Amador COVID-19 vaccine information page: https://www.amadorgov.org/services/covid-19. To sign up for Amador County e-notification visit the Amador County website: https://www.amadorgov.org/about/e-notifications and choose 'Health & Safety' notifications. Over 23,000 COVID-19 vaccine doses have been administered in Amador to-date. Over 8,300 Amador residents are fully vaccinated, and about 7,000 have had their first dose of the two-dose vaccine series.

Jackson CVS, Safeway, Walgreens, and Walmart pharmacies are also offering COVID-19 vaccine by appointment as well. Vaccine appointments are scheduled via their respective websites. Residents may also reach out to their health care provider to inquire if vaccine is available within their health care system.
