The Speaker of the National Assembly of the Republic of Serbia Ana Brnabic met today with the Secretary General of the International Criminal Police Organization INTERPOL Jurgen Stock.
In the conversation, Brnabic pointed out that Serbia and the Serbian Ministry of the Interior consider the international cooperation with INTERPOL extremely important, especially the joint fight against organized crime. She said that in the coming period, Serbia will work on further improvements in the field of cyber security.
Stock underlined the importance of all the INTERPOL members working together to preserve the global security architecture in the most effective way. He added that Serbia is an active member of this organization and highlighted the importance of furthering cooperation in the field of new technologies, especially the challenges brought on by the development and application of artificial intelligence.
As our country presides over the Global Partnership on Artificial Intelligence (GPAI), the officials recognized the opportunity to deepen the cooperation between Serbia and INTERPOL in this regard to develop solutions that could be further applied on a global level.
They also expressed satisfaction that the Agreement on the accession of our Criminal and Police Studies University to INTERPOL's Global Academy will be signed on this occasion and agreed that it will be a step towards deepening cooperation and exchange of useful experiences.
The Secretary General is in Belgrade to officially open the General Assembly of the Southeast Europe Police Chiefs Association (SEPCA), organized by Serbia and chaired by the country's Ministry of the Interior this year.
