Eleven Bridge Replacements Project 60 Percent Design Plans

Public Information Meeting

Wednesday, July 24, 2019

6 p.m. to 8 p.m.

The Transportation Engineering Division will hold a public information meeting regarding 11 future bridge replacements that are needed in the area east of Immokalee and SR 29. This informational public meeting will be held in an open house format from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, July 24 at University of Florida IFAS Extension, 14700 Immokalee Road, Naples, Florida 34120. All business and property owners, residents and visitors are welcome to stop in between 6 and 8 p.m. to review the project displays and ask questions one-on-one of the Transportation Engineering Division staff and the county's design consultant, HNTB Corporation. There will notbe a formal presentation.

Of the 11 bridges identified for replacement, there are six bridges on Immokalee Road, one on County Line Road, and four on Oil Well Road. These existing timber foundation bridges (built in the late 1940s and early 1950s) have been repaired over the years but are now in need of replacement. The design process began about a year ago and will continue over the next year, including permitting. Construction is planned to begin in fall-2020 with completion in late 2022 to early 2023. The bridges are planned to be constructed in phases while allowing continuous one-lane alternating traffic. There is a map at the end of this release to show the locations of the 11 bridges.

Estimated cost for design and construction is approximately $35 million with funding being allocated from the Collier County One-Cent Sales Surtax, and Gas Tax.
