Greif’s Vision For An Ethical Supply Chain

Greif's Global Supply Chain (GSC) program is responsible for reducing Greif's impact on the Earth in a myriad of ways, from responsibly sourcing its raw materials to optimizing its logistics footprint. As a global manufacturer, our impacts extend beyond our operations, and we are responsible for engaging suppliers to ensure they are committed to the same sustainability standards and values.

In Fiscal Year 2023, GSC kicked off its Sustainability Roadmap. The vision of this roadmap is to execute activities that create an ethical supply chain that advances Greif's sustainable growth. The roadmap has three key pillars:

1. Advance the circular supply chain: build the supply of recycled content and recyclable materials.
2. Decarbonize the supply chain: reduce the carbon emissions of Greif's procured energy, logistics network, and supply chain.
3. Align the supply base: ensure suppliers are aligned with Greif's values and the Greif Way.

Following the roadmap kick-off, GSC colleagues put their heads down and began executing great work on sustainability projects. There are too many to be highlighted, but below is a snapshot of some activities.

Supplier Assessments

Fifty-seven percent of Greif's Suppliers (by spend) were assessed for their supply chain sustainability performance using the tool EcoVadis. This puts us well on our way toward achieving our 2030 goal of evaluating 80 percent of our total spendwith suppliers.

Supplier Code of Conduct

Greif's SCOC is a critical document that outlines the behaviors required of our suppliers. In FY2023, GSC ensured that all purchase orders, regardless of region, include our Supplier Code of Conduct, which is available in fourteen languages.

GSC celebrates Earth Day by looking forward to the exciting activities to come in the remainder of Fiscal Year 2024:

• GSC will launch a new supply chain risk management solution that will ensure our Supply Chain Management System includes risk identification, assessment, and mitigation.
• GSC will execute our first Supplier Summit event in Delaware, Ohio to set a clear bar of expectations to Greif's values and sustainable supply chain objectives.
• GSC will execute renewable energy procurement agreements that will ultimately reduce Greif's Scope 2 carbon emissions in North America and EMEA.
