Escalator closures at Montgomery and Powell St. stations for new unit installations

BART is moving forward with its Market Street Escalators Renovation Project by beginning prep work for the next set of new escalators to be installed at the Montgomery Street and Powell Street stations. Three escalators will be replaced in this next round of work (see table) including the plaza level unit at One Post Plaza at Montgomery, a platform-level escalator at Montgomery, and a platform-level escalator at Powell.

The south side entrance to Montgomery Station at the corner of Market & New Montgomery (in front of the Sheraton Palace) is closed for construction through mid-2022. The station's north side escalator at One Post Plaza is also closed during construction, while the stairwell at One Post Plaza remains open. Also, the east side platform escalator at Powell Street Station will be temporarily closed starting in late May for the start of replacement work.
