Vegetation Fire

On Sunday, May 22 at 4:15 p.m., Mountain View Communications received a phone call reporting a brush fire along northbound California State Route 85.

Units were dispatched at 4:15 p.m. and arrived on the scene at 4:24 p.m. They found a 30' x 10' area of vegetation and grass on fire along Route 85. The fire burnt through the access door of the sound wall along the 85 and burned another 20' x 10' area between the sound wall and the Stevens Creek Trail.

Firefighters quickly knocked down the flames with pre-connected fire attack hose lines limiting the burn. Firefighters mopped up the scene to ensure full extinguishment of the fire.

There were no injuries as a result of the fire. The California Highway Patrol reported the damaged door to the California Department of Transportation.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
