The crews of Ka-27PL anti-submarine deck-helicopters of the Baltic Fleet naval aviation unit completed the tasks of searching, tracking and destroying a mock enemy submarine in the naval training ground of the fleet as part of a planned exercise.
According to the plan of the exercise, in the area of sea routes there was a mock enemy submarine, the crew of which was tasked with disrupting the sea communications of the Baltic Fleet.
To detect the target, Ka-27PL naval aviation helicopters were sent to the specified square of the sea, where the crews worked out the tasks of searching and tracking the submarine with the integrated use of radar and sonar equipment. After detecting and determining the coordinates of the submarine, the pilots conditionally destroyed the underwater target using aerial bombs.
The flights were carried out on a set route over the waters of the Baltic Fleet's sea range. The flight of naval aviation was preceded by thorough preparation with checking the readiness of the engineering staff, ground services and specialists to ensure flight training tasks.
About ten aircraft units were involved in the combat training event.
