President Ramaphosa leads 2021 National Freedom Day event in Botshabelo

President Cyril Ramaphosa will on Tuesday, 27 April 2021, lead the 2021 National Freedom Day celebrations under the theme 'The year of Charlotte Maxeke: The meaning of freedom under COVID-19', in Botshabelo, Free State Province.

This year's commemoration marks 27 years of freedom and democracy since South Africa's first non-racial democratic elections in 1994. The elections marked the advent of democracy after nearly four centuries of colonialism and apartheid.

The President's programme will commence with the official opening and a tour of the Charlotte Maxeke Treatment Centre followed by the formal programme where the President will address the nation.

Members of the media who have submitted their details for accreditation by no later than 21 April 2021, are welcome to collect their accreditation cards at the Botshabelo Council Chamber, from 25 April - 26 April 2021, 10:00- 18:00 and on 27 April 2021 from 07:00 - 10:00
