City announces operational changes due to improving metrics

In light of the improved COVID-19 metrics for local hospitals as well as the City's improved employee metrics, the City announced the following operational changes effective Feb. 1, 2022.

  • City buildings re-open to the public. Masks remain a requirement for all visitors
  • Mayor and Board of Aldermen Meetings and workshops return to in-person for City personnel with continued virtual participation from the public.
  • The Weinberg Center is open to the public with proof of vaccination and masking requirements.

The One Stop Shop to obtain building permits same day for projects such as decks, fences and sheds will remain closed to the public and re-open on Tuesday February 15th. Applicants may still submit building permit requests on-line through our portal at: https://www.cityoffrederickmd.gov/FormCenter/Permits-32/PreSubmittal-Application-for-BuildingTra-106

Please choose "decks/fences/sheds" as the type of permit being applied for and we will expedite the review. We strive to issue these types of permits within 5 business days.

We appreciate the public's continued patience and engagement as we navigate the challenges brought on by the COVID-19 pandemic.
