Carmeuse Black River supports safety education among local school children

Safety is at the core of what we do at Carmeuse. We work tirelessly to eliminate injuries and hazardous incidents at all our locations. Each day, we make a commitment to follow safe practices, look out for others, and call out anything that might cause harm.

But safety is not just important at work. It's a valuable life lesson that you're never too young to learn.

Supporting this message, on May 18th, the Carmeuse Black River Operation, KY, is pleased to be involved with the Bracken County Family Resource and Youth Service Center Safety Day for about 600 local school children in Grades 2-8.

The day covers a range of safety-related topics, including fire, drugs, first aid and outdoor safety, with a variety of demonstrations, games and other activities aimed at reinforcing safety rules. As part of its support for the day, the Black River Operation donated bottled water for attendees and the 50 volunteers helping to run the event.

"It's so important for children to learn about safety from a young age," said Harriet Blythe of Carmeuse Black River. "The safety day is a great initiative, and we were happy to support its work helping children recognize safety hazards, and promoting safety at school, at home and in the community."
