The Pitch: Partner with the UK National Parks to support urgent nature restoration and protect our most iconic landscapes

Share

The fifteen UK National Parks cover 10% of Great Britain's land and are enjoyed by over 100 million people every year - where they offer places to walk, spot wildlife and recharge.

But these living, working landscapes also offer so much more, playing a huge role in reviving nature, boosting biodiversity and tackling climate change. They include the internationally renowned Lake District in England, the Cairngorms and Loch Lomond and the Trossachs in Scotland and Eryri (Snowdonia) in Wales.

National Parks have the experience, expertise and opportunities to restore, and connect more people with, nature. National Parks Partnerships can work with you to develop a natural partnership that delivers local and national impact - for nature, people and planet.

Partnering with the National Parks offers a unique opportunity to reach customers across the UK and meet carbon and biodiversity aims as part of companies' ESG strategies and net-zero plans. The National Parks Partnerships team partners with companies such as BMW, Estée Lauder, American Express, Santander, Sykes Holiday Cottages and Forest Holidays.

We are a highly experienced team who are passionate about restoring nature and its power to enable wellbeing for all. We are experts in creating and delivering bespoke partnerships to meet joint business, nature and people aims. Our partnerships range from ESG-style sponsorship and brand licensing deals to designing woodland creation projects for delivery of high integrity carbon credits.

National Parks across England, Scotland and Wales are expert in delivering high-impact nature interventions, evidence-based nature enhancement and locally-based action resulting in national impact. Our 'Natural Partnerships' campaign phase-one target is to secure £10m funding to deliver an inspiring range of locally-led nature projects. The map below highlights a selection of these projects.

Case study: Recharge in Nature project with BMW

Our award-winning three-year partnership with BMW UK delivers the Recharge in Nature Project, which is expanding the Electric Vehicle charging network and supporting vital nature restoration, biodiversity, sustainable tourism and wellbeing initiatives across all fifteen National Parks. Through this work we can help these extraordinary landscapes to thrive for generations to come.

Achievements since launch include the creation of ten dew ponds, engaging farmers to manage their land to improve water quality, engaging 1,329 children in schools and, on Dartmoor, installing 43 EV chargers saving 32,859kg of CO2 (as at end of January 2024) and launching seven local car retailer partnerships.

Case study: The Revere Project with Palladium

Revere is our flagship natural capital investment project, delivered through a partnership between Palladium and the UK National Parks. We combine our ecological expertise with Palladium's financial acumen to catalyse private finance to restore the UK National Parks at the scale and pace needed to tackle the climate emergency and biodiversity crisis.

Revere designs nature restoration projects, raises private capital to fund them, and generates revenue through the sale of ecosystem services. This approach creates new income streams such as carbon credits, biodiversity outcomes and natural flood management for farmers and landowners in National Parks seeking to improve the quality of landscapes and support biodiversity.

Through Revere we are able to restore degraded peatlands and expand species-rich, grasslands, native woodlands and wetlands.
