The main stage of the SCO joint anti-terrorist command and staff exercise Peace Mission took place in the Orenburg region

Today, the main stage of the SCO joint military anti-terrorist command and staff exercise Peace Mission-2021 took place at the Donguz training ground in the Orenburg region.

During the practical actions of the forces (troops), Russian servicemen together with the personnel of the military contingents of the armed forces of India, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, China, Pakistan, Tajikistan, Uzbekistan and Belarus repelled the offensive of the mock enemy, went on the offensive and defeated its main forces.

At the first stage, the coalition grouping of troops implemented a set of measures to reduce the combat capability of large formations of a mock enemy, destroy its stocks of material resources and ammunition. During the second and third stages, the participants of the exercise practiced conducting offensive actions in order to defeat a mock terrorist formation, eliminate the remaining groups, as well as post-conflict settlement measures.

The crews of four Russian units of Su-34 multifunctional fighter-bombers and Su-25 attack aircraft, as well as one flight of Su-25 attack aircraft of the Armed Forces of Kazakhstan, carried out bombing attacks on important objects of the mock enemy, including high-explosive fragmentation bombs OFAB.

Fire raids on the enemy from temporary firing positions were carried out by crews of 152-mm self-propelled artillery systems Msta-S and multiple rocket launchers Grad from the artillery and motorized rifle brigades of the Central Military District.

Motorized rifle and motorized infantry units from Belarus, India, Kazakhstan, China and Russia defeated the advanced detachments of militants during maneuver operations and conducted fire training of the landing area of special purpose units. Their actions from the air were supported by mobile detachments of the barrier as part of the links of Russian Mi-24 attack helicopters.

In order to prevent the advance of the mock enemy deep into the positions of the coalition group of troops, a tactical air landing was carried out by special forces units of the armed forces of India, Kyrgyzstan, Russia and Pakistan from Russian Mi-8 transport and combat helicopters using a low-altitude landing method.

At the same time, the air defence units provided reconnaissance and destruction of air means of attack of a mock enemy, strike unmanned aerial vehicles, using a wide range of air defence systems of modern modifications in service with the Russian army, including the Tor, Pantsir-S, Tunguska, Strela-10 anti-aircraft systems, and the Verba portable anti-aircraft missile systems.

By launching unguided rockets in thermobaric equipment, the crews of the heavy flamethrower systems TOS-1 Solntsepek destroyed targets simulating advancing columns of equipment with reserves of a mock enemy at a distance of up to 5 kilometers.

During the final stage, military engineers, in order to destroy the advancing reserves of the IAF by detonating guided high - explosive shells, created an anti-tank ditch with a length of 3 kilometers, and specialists of the NBC protection units-a fire shaft of incendiary means to prevent the effective use of equipment, communications and control, as well as demoralization of the enemy manpower.

To protect the advanced units from car bombs, the Central Military District gunners used anti-tank guided missiles, destroying vehicles packed with explosives at a distance of up to two kilometers.

Artillery support for the advancing units of the coalition group of troops was provided by the crews of 152-mm self-propelled howitzers Msta-S and 120-mm Hosta, using high-explosive shells with radio detonators and shock fuses with a fragmentation action during the fire raid.

The reconnaissance of targets and the correction of fire was carried out with the help of unmanned aerial vehicles Orlan-10.

The maneuverable electronic warfare group provided suppression of navigation channels of drones and radio networks of the control system of the mock enemy, as well as blocking of cellular communication terminals.

The destruction of the enemy's armored vehicles and its final defeat were provided by the crews of the Shturm-S anti-tank missile systems and the Grad multiple launch rocket systems division, which performed semi-direct firing on clusters of the enemy's armored vehicles.

The joint military anti-terrorist command and staff exercise of the armed forces of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization member states Peace Mission-2021 takes place from September 20 to 24, 2021 at the Donguz training ground in the Orenburg region.

The implementation of combat training tasks during the exercise Peace Mission-2021 is carried out taking into account the development of the military-political situation in the Central Asian region.

The military administration bodies and units of the armed forces of the Russian Federation, the Republic of India, the Republic of Kazakhstan, the People's Liberation Army of the People's Republic of China, the Kyrgyz Republic, the Islamic Republic of Pakistan, the Republic of Tajikistan and the Republic of Uzbekistan take part in the practical actions of the forces (troops). For the first time, the military contingent of the armed forces of the Republic of Belarus is involved in the exercise.

In total, more than 3.4 thousand servicemen and more than 600 units of weapons, military and special equipment are involved in the exercise Peace Mission-2021. Of these, about 2 thousand personnel and more than 350 units of weapons and military equipment are participating in the exercise from the Russian side.

The basis of the Russian contingent consists of units of the Central Military District - motorized rifle and artillery formations stationed in the Orenburg region, special purpose brigades from the Samara region, as well as parts of the operational and tactical aviation of the Central Military District and military transport aviation of the Russian Aerospace Forces.

The joint anti-terrorist exercises of the member states of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization Peace Mission have been held every two years since the organization was established in 2001. The first of them took place in August 2003 on the territory of Kazakhstan and China.
