Statement on the Passing of Congressman Donald Payne Jr.

WASHINGTON, DC - Congressman Moulton released the following statement after the passing of Congressman Donald Payne Jr. of New Jersey on Wednesday:

"I am deeply saddened by the passing of Congressman Donald Payne Jr., and will miss him in our regular service on the Transportation and Infrastructure Committee together. Never too self-important to compliment a colleague, I always hoped for his approval when I spoke. He was easy to approach, thoughtful, and kind-all traits not common in Congress today.

"A dedicated public servant and a compassionate advocate for the people of New Jersey, Congressman Payne leaves behind a legacy of service to his community and to the country."
