HK Electric: Beware of Bogus Emails with Malicious Links or Attachments

HK Electric has recently received enquiries from customers that they have received bogus emails either on refund of electricity charges or contain false account information purportedly issued by the Company's Public Affairs Department.

While the layout and contents of the emails are highly similar to those issued by HK Electric, the contents and account information of the two emails are fake and also contain malicious hyperlinks or attachments.

A spokesman for HK Electric stresses the company has not sent out such emails and HK Electric has reported the case to the police.

"Please stay alert for bogus emails on electricity bills which contain false account information. And do not open any hyperlinks or attachments but delete the emails as soon as possible," the spokesman added.
